Ryan Garcia, age 24, of Los Alamitos, California, U.S.A. held the WBC interim lightweight title in 2021. On February 24, 2023, it was announced that Garcia would face Gervonta Davis in one of the most-awaited confrontations on April 22, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both boxers along with their respective broadcast partners made the official announcements on social media.

He stopped Luke Campbell by TKO 7 at 1:58 on January 2, 2021 at the American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A to win the vacant WBC interim lightweight title.

Ryan Garcia's parents are Henry Garcia and Lisa Diaz. Garcia always come out with the Mexican flag on display. According to marca.com, he has Mexican blood, even though his parents were born in the United States, but his ancestors are Mexican.

Henry Garcia's family is from Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and his parents who are Ryan's grandparents, migrated to the United States in the middle of the last century. Henry was born in Chicago, but speaks Spanish fluently.

Lisa Diaz was born in New Mexico, but her family traces their roots from Mexico. Lisa's ancestors lived in New Mexico when it was still a Mexican territory. During the war of Mexico against the United States between 1846 and 1847, the Mexicans lost that land to the invading Americans. But Lisa Diaz's family had been living there, that is why they consider themselves as Mexican.
