SIXTEEN-year-old Nathalie Suter and her 12-year-old sister Nayelie of the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School ruled the girl’s chess team event of Davao Association of Private Schools and Administrators, Incorporated (DAPRISA) held last January 28 and 29 at the YMCA in Davao City.
Nathalie, a Grade 10 student, also won the girl’s individual event. She beat former Palarong Pambansa player Jan Chelsie Mendoza of Davao Central College Toril.
Suter played a crucial game in Round 4 wherein she beat Mendoza.
The Suters and Mendoza, 17, will see action in the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet.
Meanwhile, Lance Diaz, 17, and Namael Tapere, 15, also of PNJKIS won the boy’s team event.
Diaz and Tapere also finished 1-2 in the boy’s individual event. They also will compete in the DCAA, which will start on February 5.
