Libranza to fight Apolinario in Gensan

DAVAO CITY – Former Philippine flyweight champion Genisis “Cobra” Libranza of Cabadbaran City will fight ex-WBO Oriental super flyweight title-holder John Mark “Iceman” Apolinario of Sarangani on Feb. 27 at the Bula Gym in Gen. Santos City.

“Dili dyud kumpiyansahan beterano kaayu ang kalaban (The opponent is not very confident veteran), said Libranza (19W-1L-0D, 11Kos).

The 27-year-old Libranza has already stopped the hard training including the sparring sessions with Rene Mark Cuarto (18W-2L-2D, 11KOs) and Orlie Silvestre (15W-6L-2D, 8KOs) for at least 80 rounds,

“Puro na lang me light training karun (I'm just light training right now), said Libranza.

Libranza and the rest of the boxers fighting on the bubble boxing event are already staying at the gym for quarantine.

“Nag start me quarantine adtung Feb. 8,” (We started quarantine last Feb. 8), said Libranza.

However, the swab test has yet to be conducted.

“May food man hinoon dri nka stock sa gym (There is also food in stock at the gym), said Libranza.

He has not fought in 2020 but made two fights, both in USA in 2019.

He first settled a unanimous decision against Gilberto Mendoza last Feb. 9 then TKO’d Carlos Maldonado in the 4th round last July 20.
