DAVAO CITY -- Joepher 'El Gwapito' Montano of Bago City comes home to defend his Asian Boxing Federation super lightweight title against Benjie 'Wild Beast' Suganob of Zamboaga del Sur on Oct. 12 at the New Government Center in Bacolod City.

Montano, who is now based in Davao City, scored a TKO over Rodel Wenceslao of Leyte in the 6th round to win the vacant ABF super lightweight title last March 30 in Bacolod City.

The 23-year old Montano, however, then lost to John Ruba of Indonesia by a split decision to the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental and vacant IBO Oceania-Orient welterweight titles last July 7 in Kupang, Indonesia.

Montano has 10 wins with nine knockouts against five defeats and two draws while Suganob has 10 wins with seven knockouts against seven losses and one draw.

The 23-year old Suganob, on the other hand, lost to Shun Kubo of Japan for the OPBF super bantamweight title in 2016. He made a comeback last Aug. 3, 2019 but lost to Ador Torres by a majority decision in Mandaluyong.

The promoters are Juan Ramon Guanzon and Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Team.
