DAVAO CITY -- Southpaw Pedro Taduran a.k.a. Kid Pedro Heneral of Valenzuela City made smashing retirement victory over Samuel "Silent Assassin" Salva of Iligan in the 4th round to win the vacant International Boxing Federation World minimumweight title last Saturday night at the Jurado Hall of the Philippine Marine Corp. in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Taduran posted his 14th win and the 11th knockout against the two losses while Salva suffered his first setback after 17 straight wins.
The 22-year old Taduran earlier won the Philippine minimumweight title by knocking out Jeffrey Galero of Cagayan de Oro in the 2nd round in Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, Jose Michael "Striker" Zulueta of La Trinind, Benguet retired Mark Anthony Florida of Malaybalay, Bukidnon in the 4th round to won the vacant Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) and vacant International Boxing Federation Asian light flyweight titles in the under card.
It was 11th victory with no loss and two draws by the 24-year old Zulueta while Florida suffered its 9th loss against 12 victory.
The promotion was by Sen. Manny Pacquiao with Mac-Mac Canisio as the matchmaker. (Lito delos Reyes)
