DAVAO CITY ? ?King? Arthur Villanueva of Bacolod City will challenge World Boxing Council world bantamweight champion Nordine Oubaali of France on July 6 at Barys Arena in Nur-Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan.
The 30-year old Villanueva (32W-3L-1D, 18KO) settled a majority draw with compatriot Carlo Demecillo last Nov. 24 in Cebu.
He TKO?d Taguig?s Renren Tesorio by the 7th round last June 9, 2018 in Maasin City.
Villanueva knockout Mexico?s Juan Jimenez in the 4th round to win the vacant WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title in Bacolod City.
He knockout Jimenez in the 2nd round again in their rematch in Oct. 24 in Carson, California.
He lost to Zolani Tete of South Africa by a unanimous decision for the interim WBO world bantamweight title.
The 32-year old Oubaali (15W-0L, 11KO), on the other hand, won the vacant WBC world bantamweight title by a unanimous decision over Rau?shee Warren of USA last Jan. 19, 2019 in Las Vegas. (Lito delos Reyes)
