TOMOKI ?El Mexicanito? Kameda of Japan will challenge reigning World Boxing Council world super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas of Mexico on July 13 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, USA.
The 27-year old Kameda (36W-2L-0D, 20KO) defeated Abigail Medina of Spain by a unanimous decision last Nov. 12, 2018 to win the interim WBC world super bantamweight title in Korakuen Hall.
The 28-year old Vargas (33W-0L, 22KO) beat Franklin Manzanilla of Venezuela by a unanimous decision to retain the WBC world super bantamweight title last Sept. 9.
The promoter is Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions. (Lito delos Reyes)
