New York - Roman Gonzales scored a TKO victory over Brian Viloria in the 9th round of their WBC flyweight title match at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

The undefeated Gonzales (43-0, 37 KOs) dominated Viloria (36-4, 22 KOs) from the opening bell and punished the Filipino-American in the span of 9 rounds with hard shots to the head and body of his foe before Referee Benjy Estevez called a halt in the action after witnessing that Viloria was not fighting back after a flurry of punches by Gonzales in the closing seconds of the round.
