NBA -- Bulls' Gibson out for four months

CHICAGO -- Taj Gibson will be sidelined for at least four months after undergoing "arthroscopy and repair of the ankle," the Chicago Bulls said in a press statement.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Gibson was treated by Dr. David Porter, an Indianapolis-based foot specialist.

The 26th pick in the 2009 NBA draft (first round), Gibson, 29, played in 62 regular season games and averaged 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per. He has two years and $16 million left in his contract.

After finishing the regular season with a 50-32 slate, the Chicago Bulls were ousted in the second round of the playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers, 4-2.

Shortly after the disappointing end to their season, the Bulls parted ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau and tapped Fred Hoiberg as his replacement.
