Kameda retains WBO bantamweight title

CHICAGO -- Tamoki Kameda retained his WBO bantamweight title via split decision over a gallant Alejajndro Hernandez on Saturday night at the UIC Pavilion here in Chicago.

Two judges scored it 115-113 for Kameda while the third judge saw it in favor of Hernandez, 115-113.

It was an entertaining fight with both fighters exchanging meaningful blows. But Kameda took the edge after starting strong and building the points early.

Hernandez pressed on the gas in the later rounds and by the ninth round, blood began to trickle on Kameda's left eye which was also heavily swollen.

Kameda, however, weathered the storm and put up an impressive 12th round to get the nod of the two judges.

Kameda improved to 31-0 with 19 knockouts while Hernandez fell to 33-4 with 15 KOs.
