MANALO KOs MARAYAN IN THE 1ST ROUND AT THE BAKBAKAN SA ELORDE
By Dionis Jacobe PhilBoxing.com Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Bebong ?The Great? Manalo of Elorde Boxing Gym, St. Rita Paranaque City, stopped Jovill Marayan in the very first round in the scheduled ten-round bout in the main event of the 'Bakbakan sa Elorde' held at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex, Paranaque City last July 26, 2014.
Manalo wasted no time in pursuing Marayan in the opening seconds of the very first round throwing deadly combinations to the body prompting Marayan to run while establishing his own offense at the same time mounting a defense from the attacking opponent. But, Manalo is relentless in his body attack throwing left and right combination on the side of the body of Marayan knocking him down, grimacing in pain. The veteran yet energetic international referee, Ver Abainza readily started counting until he reached the count of ten with Marayan still on the canvas. Then, referee Ver Abainza stopped the fight in 2:02 remaining time in the very first round without giving the three judges, Romy Yulo, Jerrold Tomeldan and Dionis Jacobe the opportunity score the main event.
With the win, Bebong Manalo was able to come back from his 3rd round knock out loss against Rex Olisa in his last fight last March 15, 2014. He now has an impressive record at 9 wins, 2 losses with 6 knockouts, while Marayan of Hardcore Boxing Gym, Malolos, Bulacan posted his sixth straight defeats and now posting a record of 8 -18-3 win-loss-draw record.
