Ikeyama defeats Pagaduan for inaugural WBO women's atomweight belt

Jessebelle Pagaduan (6-1, 4 KOs) failed to win the first ever World Boxing Organization's women's atomweight strap last night in Osaka, Japan, losing by Unanimous Decision to hometown fighter, Nao Ikeyama (14-3-1, 4 KO).
The Japanese fighter dominated Pagaduan with scores of 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92 in 10 rounds of championship boxing.
An understandably dejected Pagaduan apologized for her shortcoming in a brief message sent to this writer, minutes after her fight with Ikeyama.
"Sorry sir, I failed to take the belt home."
Pagaduan fought according to her - a very good fighter in Ikeyama, who at 44 years old captured the vacant and inaugural 102 pound women's belt of the WBO.
The 29 year old fighter out of Buguias, Benguet vowed to bounce back from her first defeat and learn from this experience.
