In a close battle, veteran South African Moruti Mthalane scored a split decision over Jether Oliva of the Philippines to capture the IBO Flyweight World Title yesterday (March 15) in Durban, South Africa.
The South African ended the war with a swollen left eye, result of Oliva's sharp right hooks. No knockdowns were produced.
Mthalane's experience earned him the day. But what a great effort from the younger Jether Oliva, who showed class and skills to compete at a higher level.
Good work Jether Oliva and team headed by manager Jim Claude Manangquil!
Have a good flight home!
