Broner vs Malignaggi: Digesting Compubox: Quantity vs Quality?

PhilBoxing.com

Malignaggi averaged 70 punches per round and he connects 18 of those on each round. On the other hand, the challenger, now the new welterweight champion Broner, averaged 44 throws per round and scored 21 of those each round.

Now, what type of punches did Malignaggi connect to Broner and what did Broner landed to Malignaggi? Who got more impact, who was the sharper?

If we talk about jabs, Malignaggi should have won via landslide. The former champion, threw more than half of his total punches with jabs, 467 out of the 843 total punches were all jabs. Like 39 jabs per round and connect 10 of those for every round. Broner was very conservative with his jabs (shoulder roll defense wont throw bunch of jabs I think), conservative or inactive whatever you guys call it, he only jabbed 9 times each round, and connected only 4 of those per round. So, on jabs, Malignaggi dominated Broner lights out.

Now, lets go to the more intense blows, the power punches. As I mentioned above, the Cincinnati OH native Adrien Broner threw only 44 punches per round, behind those 44 punches, 35 of which were power punches. Out of those 35 power punches thrown, 18 connected to the former champs face. Let's go to Malignaggi's power punches, again as I mentioned above the former champ throws 70 each round, 31 are power punches. And how much power punches did Malignaggi connected? An unimpressive 8 connects for each round.

To recap on power punch battle, Broner connected 18 per round to Malignaggi's only 8.

To recap on Jabs showdown, Broner only landed 4 each round compared to Malignaggi's 10.

If you are in the front row like the judges, which punches were more convincing to you? Malignaggi's advantage on jabs or Broner's power punches? I sat like 5 rows behind those judges, the power punches sounded more convincing that Broner won more rounds than Malignaggi. That?s why I scored 118-112 for Broner, the guy beside me from secondsout.com scored it 116-112 also for Broner.

With or without compubox, Broner connected the more telling blows and that?s the game changer. Quality over quantity all the time.

Oh!BeerTime
Miami Heat won back to back NBA championships. You guys noticed that the sabotage of Wade-James-Bosh created an influx in the NBA? Battier received half of what he make when he was still a Grizzly, Allen took a dive too and is making half the Celtics offered to him just to join the Big 3, not to mention the all-stars Miller and the former top 2 highest paid of NBA Rashard Lewis... tell me, if you move to a different job, and you are very good at it, will you accept half the price of your current value or you will seek higher salary?... the influx, attracted these all-stars and joined the Big 3 in Miami? for me it destroyed the fabric of the league... who did the Heat beat? The Spurs, a team that was formed and nurtured from the start, not a fabricated team like Miami Heat... and their supporting casts? Some of them waived by several team, one of those teams is the Cavs (James' former team) and some from D-League players... these type of supporting casts the Spurs have are surely an outcasts in Miami... one last question, did Jordan asked Dominique Wilkins to join forces with him in New York with Patrick Ewing?... Basketball is a competition, and if you think you are great enough, you compete with the greats and beat them... not join forces with them, c?mon man!!! But congratulation to the Heat though (but to Alonzo Mourning only)... congratulations to our new World Champion Edrin The Sting Dapudong, to Gov. Manny Pinol, absolutely this championship is not fabricated and was really nurtured from the very beginning...
