NBA -- Raptors ground floundering Rockets
By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Mon, 17 Dec 2012
SAN FRANCISCO -- In a trying season of only six wins against 19 defeats, the Toronto Raptors don't have much to be happy about. But Sunday afternoon was one of those good days, the team's second straight win in the month of December.
Behind point guard Jose Calderon's outstanding triple-double and his teammates' strong defensive effort the Raptors turned back the Rockets, 103-96, at the Air Canada Centre in Ontario, Canada.
The 31-year old Calderon dropped 18 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds, while the rest of the Raptors hounded the Rockets into shooting just 32-of-78 field goals (41 percent) including a mere 7-for-23 on three-point attempts. Alan Anderson and DeMar DeRozan added 24 and 19 points for Toronto.
"The key was we didn't turn the ball over. Our guys did a good job adjusting and running them off the three-point line. It's a team win, everyone that walked on the floor shared the ball, we had 29 assists," an elated Raptors head coach Dwane Casey told NBA.com.
James Harden topscored for the Rockets with 28 points on 7-for-18 shooting while Marcus Morris added 19 points and six rebounds. Jeremy Lin was held to only seven points, two assists and three turnovers.
Houston dropped to 11-12, third in the Western Conference's Southwest Division. (RM)
