WBC APPROVES 2007 RP HOSTING OF CONVENTION

PhilBoxing.com

The Games and Amusements Board has just notched another glory day for RP boxing. Notably, the recent victories grabbed by our Filipino fighters here and abroad are solid proof of Chairman Eric Buhain's able leadership as the big boss of the country's professional sports agency.

What a good news! The heirarchy of the biggest and the world's renowed boxing sanctioning body, the World Boxing Council has given the approval to our country as its host for the WBC 45th Annual Global Convention in November of 2007. The green light coming from the WBC's top honcho Don Jose Sulaiman Chagnon for the Philippines through the GAB to proceed with the necessary preparations is more than a victory for all of us especially to the boxing communities of the country.Credit should really go to Chairman Buhain who sits in the Board of Governors of the WBC and as Vice-President of the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF).He practically worked on every details, rubbed elbows with WBC's top executives just to make sure to get their nod in favor of the country. This is for the glory of this nation and for the greater interest of our professional boxers. The cause and effect towards economic and tourism pump priming here is obviously evident.

The good Chairman left for Croatia last Oct. 27 to attend the 44th Annual World Convention of the WBC and is set to present before its Board of Officers the hows and the whats much more the best that we could offer to almost six hundred (600) delegates coming from various parts of the world next year when its time for us to host the convention. But the presentation by way of electronic brochures will just become a formality on the part of Buhain since the WBC had already put in its calendar of yearly activities, the City of Manila to be the center of their 45th global conclave.

What a perfect timing. This January 21-25,2007 the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) and Women InternationaL Boxing Association (WIBA) have already fixed for finality the date of their joint global convention in Boracay island paradise in Malay, Aklan. The event is to be hosted also by the Philippines through the GAB.Participants from Carribean countries,African nations and states , USA , Europe , China ,Japan . Latin Americans among others have already signified their participation.Aklan Governor Carmilo Marquez is very happy to be of service and to support this international affair.GAB's hosting of this joint WPBF-WIBA global conclave is a perfect show window if not a spring board for November's WBC much expected convention.

We hope to see Muhammad Ali, Oscar de la Hoya, Floyd Mayweather and many more big names in the world boxing scene to come to grace this WBC 45th convention.
