Pe?alosa: The end could have come earlier
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Mon, 23 Oct 2006

Back at dressing room last night Pe?alosa revealed to this writer that he hurt his left hand soon after the first knockdown of Mauricio Martinez last night. “Sana doc, mas-aagang natapos yun laban, pero na-injured yun left hand ko kaya I went easy in using it.”
Pe?alosa added that it was good the injury and pain did not affect his performance to a point where he had to change the game plan crafted by Buboy Fernandez and Freddie Roach.
In the end, he knocked down Martinez two more times, once in the 4th round and again in the 9th round. Martinez failed to beat the count in the 9th giving Pe?alosa a clear knockout victory over the # 1 contender to Jhonny Gonzales’ WBO bantamweight crown. With the win, now there are talks that Pe?alosa may get a title shot.
