The "Filipino Flash" Nonito Donaire (14-1,8 KO's) will have another opportunity to showcase his boxing skills when he defends his NABF superflyweight title on July 29th at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California, a gorgeous suburb of the world famous City of Santa Barbara.
Donaire will be defending against the challenge of Jovanny "Bambino" Soto, a fireball from Mexico who holds the WBC Fedecentro superflyweight title, The Donaire-Soto encounter is the major undercard of the Vivian Harris-Stevie Johnston / Joshua Clottey-Richard Gutierrez double header promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, LLC and will be televised live on HBO's "Boxing after Dark".
Doniare is on a five year, 13 bout winning streak with the most impressive wins coming in the last two fights, a unanimous decision ove r former IBO champion Llidio Julio (33-6-1, 29 KO's) and a split decision over Kahren Harutyuyan (13-2-3) for the vacant NABF title.
Soto (20-7-1, 15 KO's) who hails from Guasave, Sinoloa, Mexico is also on a streak, winning four bouts, three of which were KO's. He won 5 of his last 6 bouts. Soto captured the vacant WBC Fedecentro title via a 5th round KO of Branni Guerrero.
