Donny Mabao Singwancha became new Asia Council Continental minimumweight champ in Bislig

Donny Mabao Singwancha of Cagayan de Oro claimed the vacant WBC Asia Council Continental minimumweight (105 lbs) title by scoring a well deserved hard-fought 12-rounds unanimous decision victory over tough Mateo Handig (5-4, 2KOs) of Malolos City, Bulacan, in the main event of interesting boxing card staged last September 16 in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

The 22-year-old Donny Mabao (18-20-1, 3KOs) dominated most of the action-packed bout and received the desicion from the ringside officials:

Judge Arnulfo Sazon voted 118-112, judge Roel Densing saw it 117-111 and judge Delbert Peligrino of Tagbilaran scored 118-111, all three in favor of the new WBC Asian Council champion Donny Mabao Singwancha.

In the co-main event, Jilo Merlin of Agusan del Sur impressively won the vacant Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight (122 lbs.) green belt by prescribing a devastating 4th round technical KO over Cebu resident Jestoni "Kamekazi" Pepito.

In other combat, world rated current WBA # 10 light flyweight fighter and PABA champion Rey Lorito Singwancha, 20, won by DQ his intense clash with Jonathan Ricablanca. Ricablanca, 24, of Surigao City was disqualified by the referee for continuous low blows over Rey Lorito during the action of round 3.

Also in action, Gensan's native flyweight Romnick Magos, 20, won a majority desicion over Zamboangue?o Roger Echavez. With this triumph, the young Rommick Magos, now residing in Cebu, impoved his record to 6-1 with 3 KO's.

Debutant John Vincent Moralde, a former amateur standout of the MATS College Boxing Team and now a prospect of the Brico Santig stable of boxers, successfuly began his boxing career with a clear unanimous desicion victory over Argie Marapao.

In addition, three of the preliminary combats in the Bislig card ended in excitings unexpected 1st round KO's:

- Local Bislig kid lightweight Nelson Gulpe (2-0, 1KO) did not give a breather to his opponent and fast dismantled young Jesson Inso, 19, in the very first chapter.

- 20-year-old Mandaue's super flyweight Jherpaul Valero did not waste time in scoring a knocked out in round one triumph over Roel Baquiano, 25, of Butuan.

- In addition, Gensan bantamweight Engelbert Moralde made a succesful pro debut by destroying Randy Gomez in the opening round

The entertaining evening of boxing was presented and organized by Baguio's promoter Mr. Brico Santig in association with international boxing patron Mr. Rex "Wakee" Salud of RWS International and Thailand boss Mr. Naris Singwancha. The matchmaker of the card was Mr. Willy Flores.

Thailand attorney and matchmaker Mr. Narong Hengtrakul, who is one of Manny Pacquiao's biggest fans, was present at the event on behalf of promoter Naris Singwancha.

Also in attendance was the distinguished Bislig City Mayor Mr. Librado C. Navarro, one of the main sponsors and supporters of boxing in Bislig.
