AUSSIE PROMOTER WANTS CASTANARES-MARKS ON DEC. 16
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 21 Sep 2005
Australian promoter Peter Maniatis wants no less than World Boxing Foundation junior welter king Dindo "Diesel" Castanares to defend his title in a grudge rematch with Aussie Steven Marks on December 16 at the 6,500-capacity Festival Hall in Melbourne.
Maniatis, who hosts a radio show and a TV show in Victoria's Channel 31 called "KO Boxing Show", which has been on air for 4 years with some 150 episodes, has been communicating with WBF world president Mick Croucher about the Castanares-Marks rematch, which is expected to be huge in Australia.
Casta?ares and Marks had figured in an explosive bloodbath last April 30, which saw Castanares on the verge of a knockout in the opening round, only to come back strong to stop Marks in the fifth round.

Maniatis has already promoted over 25 big boxing promotions all over Victoria, making him the biggest boxing promoter in the area.
"On the undercard l will have all the best boxers in Australia and will invite all the movie stars and celebrities to enjoy the night, l plan to make this the biggest boxing promotion Melbourne has seen for a long time," Maniatis said in an interview.
"l have recently visited the Philippines and was very impressed with the country and people, and met up with top referee Bruce Mctavish, the boxing is very strong in the Philippines" added promoter Maniatis.
Peter pauses with James Grima
Maniatis' next show will be on October 14 where local hero James "Bomber" Grima takes on Adelaide's Nermin Sabanovic at the Festival Hall in Melbourne for the vacant OPBF cruiserweight title.
An Australian title is being staked in the undercard.
