Orion Sports Management Presser for Filipino Media for Rumble at Rama X

PhilBoxing.com

Orion Sports Management President Mr. Allan Tremblay along with Jason Ableson made a big splash in the Filipino Community today with their first presser for Rumble at Rama X exclusively for local Filipino media representatives from Toronto.

He announced the highly anticipated return of undefeated WBO super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona (14-0, 12 KOs). This is Marvin’s first voluntary title defense against Mexico’s Alejandro Hernandez (22-7-1, 11 KO’s) who is ranked 15th in the WBO super flyweight division. In addition, another undefeated Pinoy boxer Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales (13-0, 8 KO's), ranked 6th by the WBO in the jr. featherweight division, will be making his Canadian debut, fighting in an undercard match against another Mexican Miguel Angel Gonzalez Piedras (10-1, 4KO’s).

Honored guest and media parties in attendance at Casa Manila Restaurant were the Philippine Consulate, Philboxing.com, Theboxingexaminer.com, Ramon Datol’s The Philippine Courier, Manila Monitor, Front Page Philippines TV, Philippine Times, Atin Ito, Scarborough MPP Brad Duguid’s representatives and a whole lot more. Overall, there was incredible support and demand demonstrated for the two Pinoy boxers and what was said today that will be breaking news in the weeks to come leading into the fight. As a result, as stated by Mr. Tremblay, it is highly likely that you will see more Philippine based boxing prospects and contenders participating at future Rumble at Rama venues.

Entrance visas into Canada has been approved for both boxers on Oct 22, 2009. The event will broadcast live on TSN in HDTV (where available) across Canada on Saturday, November 21, 2009 with the main event scheduled to start at 10:30 p.m. Tentative broadcasting negotiations are pending for full live broadcast coverage in the Phillipines and Mexico at this time. Progress reports from both Pinoy boxers today state that Marvin is excited to return to Canada for his first title defense while Ciso has been highly anticipating his Canadian debut. Steve “the Canadian Kid” Molitor will also see action against the tough and durable Sergio Javier Escobar (11-8-1, 2 KO’s), from Argentina who started a winning streak.

Orion Sports Management and Casino Rama are expecting a greater demand for tickets for this venue due to the positive response and coverage from Filipino media and community alike. In addition, the Casino Rama Players Rewards Program’s demand for tickets for this Rumble edition has reached new benchmarks. Get your tickets early to avoid disappointment, there are only 5,200 seats and this event will probably sell out like the last event.

I would also like to take this opportunity to announce that there will be meet and greet with both Team Marvin Sonsona and Ciso Morales in my home town Scarborough Central. The meet and greet is held by the honorary Scarborough Central MPP Brad Duguid, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs in co-operation with Orion Sports Management. MPP Brad Duguid is also and avid boxing fan and a Filipino Community supporter. This is a chance for the Filipino Community across the GTA, especially in Scarborough to meet the two undefeated boxers for autographs and watch a public workout demonstration at ringside. I was told that at the presser that there will be food and ticket raffle/giveaways. The Red Cross will also be on location to accept monetary donations for the Filipino Flood Relief (tax receipts issued for donations) to assist our kababayans back home affected by the floods.

The meet and greet will take place at the Armenian Community Centre, 45 Hallcrown Place (Vic Pk & 401) on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at 5 p.m. Free Parking. This is an excellent opportunity to come out and show your support for boxers as well as show our compassion to those in need, least we forget them.

Tickets for Rumble at Rama X are still available at the Casino Rama Box Office, and at all TicketMaster locations, by calling (416) 870-8000 and online at www.casinorama.com.
