ANA JULATON RETURNS TO ACTION AUG. 1

PhilBoxing.com

Fil-Am female fighting Pride of the Philippines, Bay area’s own Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton is back.

Julaton who is the most influential Filipina boxer in the history of the sport and arguably the most popular female boxer to ever come out of the Bay Area is making her return to the ring after an 11 month hiatus for the biggest test of her career.

Following in the footsteps of her boxing idol Manny Pacquiao, Ana who is ranked in the Top Ten in the World by the WBC at 122lbs Superbantamweight Ana will be moving up two weight divisions to 130lbs SuperFeatherweight in order to challenge for the coveted #1 Pound for Pound ranking.

On August 1st at the Rancho Mirage Casino in Agua Caliente CA. on the undercard of Timothy Bradley vs Nate Campbell on Showtime Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton will be fighting 10 rounds for the W.I.B.A SuperFeatherweight Championship against the #1 Pound for Pound fighter in the world and the reigning & defending W.I.B.A Superfeatherweight Champion Melissa "Hurucan" Hernandez (10 wins 1 loss 2 draw) who represents Puerto Rico by way of NY. Melissa "Hurrucan" Hernandez who is currently the WBC ranked #2 Superfeatherweight, WBA #2 Featherweight, IFBA #2 SuperFeatherweight is Julaton’s biggest opponent to date both interms of experience and size.

Hernandez is considered by many to be too strong of an opponent for Julaton. In Melissa's 13 professional fights she has only lost to WBA Lightweight Champion Laya McCarter (P4P #4). Some boxing experts believe Ana is a huge underdog and should not be taking such a risky fight, but they all said the same things last year before the biggest fight of 2008 Pacquiao vs Delahoya.

Following in the footsteps of Manny Pacquiao's defeat over Oscar Delahoya who moved up two weight divisions to solidify himself as the best Pound 4 Pound boxer in the World, Ana is chasing that same dream. If Julaton can pull of the upse t she becomes the first Female Filipino-American to ever win the Pound 4 Pound ranking. How awesome would it be to have the Best Male and Female boxers in the World be of Philippine heritage!

She can be seen training at the Kennel Boxing gym located in San Leandro, CA. and will remain in the Bay Area for her entire training camp. Hoping for a repeat of the 2007 knockout of the year Team Julaton has added the original team that produced the upset win over pound for pound #8 SuperFlyweight Champion Vic Darchinyan in 2007. With the services of famed trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. along with assistant trainer Arvin Jugarap (owner of Kennel Boxing) and NABA & NABO flyweight champion Glenn "The Filipino Bomber" Donaire as her chief sparring partner it might produce upset of the year honors.

When asked why she is in the Bay Area with her new team she replied "The Bay Area has always supported me my entire career, I trained here for my wins in the Golden Gloves Championships at the SF Civic Auditorium, California State Championships, my Silver Medal victory in the USA Championships and my Pro Debut. I feel a strong connection with this community and being able to train in front of my fans is always a plus!"
