PhilBoxing.com

The tandem of ALA Promotions and ABS/CBN, the co untry?s largest TV network, reunite anew to bring to the Queen City of the South, another blockbuster boxing event on March 14, 2007 at the Cebu Waterfront Resort Hotel and Casino.

In an unprecedented dream match, the episode will feature two former IBF world champions, Roberto ?Mako? Leyva of Mexico and Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia in collision with two champions in the making Z ?The Dream? Gorres and Milan ?El Maestro? Melindo, both of the fabled ALA gym.

Headlined by the talented Gorres who has fought the best in his division with the likes of current champions Fernando Montiel and Vic Darchinyan and former title-holder Eric Ortiz, will be facing another formidable foe in Roberto ?Mako? Leyva.

The 26 year old Cebuano warrior is expected to encounter rough sailing against the former multi-titled champion, Roberto ?Mako? Leyva who has a fight record of 25 (KO 20)+ 8 losses + 1 draw.

Leyva whose nickname ?Mako? is derived from a specie of shark is not only a former IBF champion but at one time was also WBC Youth world champion after beating Roberto Gomez for the title.

Unexpectedly however, it is the fight between the very promising Milan ?El Maestro? Melindo and former IBF world titlist, Muhammad Rachman that is drawing more excitement as both are evenly matched and equally skilled.

Melindo, 20, has a 17-0 record with 5 KO?s and was impressive in halting Tanzanian Juma Fundi in the 3rd round to retain his WBO Asia Pacific 105 lbs. title last October 30, 2008 in Cagayan de Oro City.

It was however his explosive win over Panama?s highly-regarded Carlos Melo that the unbeaten Melindo has gain some strong followers. It also catapulted Melindo to WBO#1, WBA#4 and WBC#6 and is at the moment, the highest world rated contender among Filipino fighters

Rachman whose record 65-6-5 with 31 KO?s exudes confidence and believes his experience will carry him, to victory over the hometown challenger.

ALA Promotion President, Michael Aldeguer confides that, ?This coming event is a dream math-up for the discriminating Cebuano boxing fans. These fights do not guarantee wins for our boys- it will be tough and only the best will prevail?.

Gorres and Melindo are in the best shape and ready to do battle on their continuous quest for the e lusive diadem.
