Mepranum offered undercard stint in Dela Hoya-Pacquiao megabout

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (August 29) ? Reigning World Boxing Organization Oriental flyweight king Richie Mepranum could get a taste of how it is to fight before an international audience after he was offered an undercard bout by World Boxing Council lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
The offer was made to Maasim mayor Anecito Lopez Jr. on August 18, ten days before Pacquiao accepted a fight with Oscar de la Hoya Thursday evening.
Lopez is Mepranum's manager.
Mepranum holds a record of 18 wins, a loss and a draw.
He is also the reigning Philippine Boxing Federation flyweight champion.
Pacquiao told Lopez to prepare Mepranum for a fight against a still to be named opponent.
Mepranum is one of the brightest prospects of Lopez stable for a world boxing crown.
A sleek boxer, he is a southpaw and holds a victory against Philippine flyweight champion Rocky Fuentes.
His only loss was to Denkaosan Kaovichit of Thailand via a controversial decision.
According to www.boxrec.com, Mepranum also reportedly lost to another Thai boxer, Panomroonglek Kratingdaenggym.
But Mepranum's manager said the fight did not happen.
It was gathered that another Filipino fighter was passed on as Mepranum for that fight.
The Games and Amusement Board investigated the incident and the Sarangani-born boxer and his manager were cleared of the fiasco.
Mepranum also fought in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Larios fight at the Araneta Coliseum where he was held to another controversial draw by Efren Huesca.
His latest victory was a unanimous win over Louie Bantigue in a fight held in Zamboanga City last July 27.
