Joe Noynay Battles Jin Sasaki for WBO AP and Vacant OPBF Welter Titles

PhilBoxing.com

Noynay (L) and Sasaki (R).

Philippine and IBF Asia Pacific welterweight champion Joe Noynay will attempt to add the WBO Asia Pacific belt and win the vacant OPBF welterweight title when he collides with Japanese knockout artist Jin Sasaki on May 16, 2024 at the Korakuen Boxing Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Noynay was once a very promising super featherweight on the verge of fighting for world title in 2022. But he suddenly outgrown the 130 lbs resulting to his last defeat to Australian Liam Wilson who then went on vie for the world title, nearly stopping emerging Mexican legend Emmanuel Navarette before losing by late round TKO.

Noynay had stopped Wilson in their first fight in 2021 before Wilson's camp demanded for a rematch in 2022 which Noynay lost by 2nd round knockout due to severe weakness after failing several times to meet 130 lbs.

Since then, Noynay has grown to and fought at welterweight and transformed himself to a devastating knockout puncher. He has since won his four succeeding fights, three by knockout. The only fighter he failed to knock out was the tough Adam Diu Adbulhamid whom he beat by unanimous decision for the Philippine welterweight crown in December 2022.

He won the vacant IBF Pan Pacific welterweight crown by knockout over Indonesian Larry Siwu in June 2023 and defended it by first round knockout of Argie Tuguero.

His last fight ended in a first round knockout of another Indonesian Ramadhan Weriuw.

Noynay's record stands at 23-3-2 with 11 KOs.

His opponent Jin Sasaki is a feared knockout specialist with a record of 16 wins, 15 by KO against only one defeat. His lone loss came in 2021 against world rated and undefeated Andy Hiraoka at junior welterweight.

Sasaki has knockout wins against the likes of Keita Obara and Ryota Toyoshima from whom he won the WBO Asia Pacific welterweight title.

Sasaki is Japan's top welterweight and rated #14 in the world by boxrec.

Noynay versus Sasaki will surely be a slambang affair.
