Visiting Teams All Won vs Hosts; Boston Finally Loses By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Wed, 27 Mar 2024  With the jockeying for playoff positions intensifying, all visiting teams from the West won today laying to waste the supposed advantage of the home teams, some by a rout even. The Oklahoma City Thunder remained in the running for Western Conference leadership with a 119-112 victory over the Pelicans at their Fiserv arena in New Orleans. With a 51-20 record, the Thunder are just half a game away from current leader, the Denver Nuggets who are at 52-20. The Dallas Mavericks regained the strategic sixth place in the West by beating erstwhile sixth placer Sacramento Kings right in their adversary's home floor of Golden 1 Center, 132-96. Toting a record of 43-29, the Mavs are one game ahead of the Kings and the Phoenix Suns both at 42-20. The Golden State Warriors outplayed the host Miami Heat in their Kaseya Center, 113-92 to retain its 10th place standing in the West and fending off the bid of the late streaking Houston Rockets. A loss would have dropped the Warriors to a tie with the Rockets for a spot in the play in in the West. The win put Warriors (37-34) a game ahead of the Rockets (36-35). Meanwhile the Los Angeles could have taken it easy as it is safely ensconced at play-in ninth with in the West but when opportunity presented itself they defeated the host Milwaukee Bucks 128-124 at the Fiserv Forum. The Lakers thus improved their record to 40-32. The biggest surprise of the week however was pulled by the host Atlanta Hawks yesterday against the visiting Boston Celtics, 120-118 finally snapping the Celtics' long winning streak after coming back from a 30 points deficit near the end of the first half. Without main man Trey Young, De Andre Hunter towed five other Hawks who scored in double figures to chip away at the Boston lead until finally tying and getting the lead in the fourth quarter. As usual Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis led the Celtics charge. But the Hawks used more scorers to negate the Celtics trio's production in edging Boston.
