Celtics, Thunder Win Only Scheduled Games
By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Mon, 12 Feb 2024

There were only two scheduled NBA games today and one team proved to be hard to beat even on the road while another team used its homecourt advantage to score a win that put it back in contention.
The Boston Celtics continued to win beating the Miami Heat 110-106 in their home floor at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. The win raised the Celts record to the Eastern Conference leading 41-12 putting them more than five won games ahead of their closest pursuer, the also streaking Cleveland Cavaliers. It was their fourth straight victory since a rare home loss to the LA Lakers.
The Oklahoma City Thunder got back to contention in the race for the leadership in the Western Conference with a 127-113 home victory over the Sacramento Kings. The win raised the Thunder record to 36-17 putting them in tie with the LA Clippers (35-16) and the Denver Nuggets (36-17) just a won game behind the leading Minnesota Timberwolves (36-16).
The Celtics starting unit delivered with Jason Tatum and Kristaps Porzinghis tallying 26 points and 10 rebounds and 25 points and 9 boards respectively. Jaylen Brown added 20 points and 9 caroms while Jrue Holiday chipped in 15 points. Derek White contributed 6 markers. Payton Pritchard came off the bench to score 8 markers.
The Heat were without ace scorer Jimmy Butler but gave a stiff fight through center Bam Adebayo who tallied 22 points and game high 13 rebounds and Tyler Herro who topscored for the Heat with 24 points.
Oklahoma was led by Shai Gilgeous Alexander with 38 and Jalen Williams with 32. They were supported by L. Dorf (17 and 9 boards) and center Chet Holmsgren (14)
Morris Monk did not start for the Kings but scored a team high 26 in support of center Domantas Sabonis (21) in the fightback.
