LA Clippers Beat Boston Celtics, Move up to 3rd in NBA West

In the battle among the leading teams the other day, the LA Clippers and the Denver Nuggets won over the Boston Celtics 115-96 and the Philadelphia 76ers 11-105 respectively to keep sight of the top of the NBA Western Conference.

With the win, the Clippers move up to 3rd with a 30-14 record in virtual tie with the Nuggets who improved to 32-15. The OKC Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves are tied on top both with 32-14 records.

The Celtics defeat benefited the Milwaukee Bucks who also won over the New Orleans Pelicans 141-117 to cut Boston's lead to 3 won games. The 76ers loss pushed them back to 5 won games behind. The Celtics are 35-11, the Bucks are 32-14 and the 76ers are 29-15.

Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with 26 points. He was supported by Daniel Theis 18 points, Paul George 17 points, Terance Mann (14) and Amir Coffey (10). On Boston side, Jason Tatum was limited to 21 points The only other Celts on double figures were Payton Pritchard (12) and Luke Kornet (11). Jaylen Brown could only score 8 points and Jrue Holiday 7. Center Al Horford was scoreless with just 2 rebounds.

The Nuggets took advantage of Joel Embiid's absence with Nikola Jokic scoring 26 points and 16 boards Jamal Murray supported him with 23 as the other Nuggets starters Michael Porter Jr (20) and Aaron Gordon (18) and K Caldwell Pope (8) also made their scoring contributions.

On the 76ers side, veteran center Paul Reed tried to make up for Embiid's absence scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds. He was ably supported by Kelly Oubre (25), Marcus Morris (17) and Patrick Beverly (17). But no other Philadelpia players could post significant numbers to help their cause.

Giannis Antetokoumpo (30), Damien Lillard (26), Brook Lopez (24) and Bobby Portis (20) led the Bucks against the Pelicans who were led by Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.
