Elayza Villa (Philippines), Sreekarthika Velmurugan (Singapore), Ha Yihan (Vietnam), Darwisyah Insyirah Nureen (Malaysia) MANILA---International Master Daniel Quizon of the Philippines and FIDE Master Munkhdalai Amilal of Mongolia stamped their class in the Eastern Asia Juniors and Girls Chess Championship 2023 - Open division at the Sabah Oriental Hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on Tuesday, December 5. A member of the star-studded Dasmariñas Chess Academy, Quizon trounced stablemate FIDE Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca of the Philippines. Amilal, meanwhile, turned back International Master Michael Concio Jr. of the Philippines. Quizon and Amilal joined two others in the lead at 4.5 points apiece as National Master Jan Clifford Labog of the Philippines won in contrasting fashion. Labog bested countryman National Master Ivan Travis Cu of the Philippines to raise his total 4.0 points and climb at solo third. Romualdez Siblings NM Davin Sean and CM Danry Seth of the Philippines toppled their respective rivals. Davin Sean crushed Muhd Tirmidzi Abdul Sahim of Malaysia while 8-year-old Danry Seth outclassed Muhd. Danish Zaqwan Muhd. Hadi of Brunei. In the Girls section, Woman Fide Master Diajeng Theresa Singgih of Indonesia defeated Woman National Master Ruelle Canino of the Philippines to score 4.5 points and grab the solo leadership board, half point ahead with Woman Candidate Master Chua Jia-Tien of Malaysia who totes 4.0 points. Chua beat Woman Fide Master Boldbaatar Altantuya of Mongolia. Woman National Master Ma.
