Pinoy FM Arca draws with Kazakhstan FM in FIDE World Youth Chess Championship in Montesilvano, Italy

FILIPINO FIDE Master (FM) Christian Gian Karlo Arca settled for his second straight draw Wednesday, this time against Kazakhstan FIDE Master (FM) Inayat Bolat in 44 moves of Catalan Opening to share 31st to 77th places in the Boys under-14 section after three rounds of the FIDE World Youth Chess Championship at the Pala Dean Martin centro congressi in Montesilvano, Italy.

Arca, a member of the star studded Dasmariñas Chess Academy of Mayor Jenny Barzaga, Rep. Elpidio "Pidi" Barzaga Jr. and national coach FIDE Master Roel Abelgas, raised his total to 2.0 points on two wins and one loss, the same output of compatriot Charly Jhon Yamson and fourth round opponent Zanas Nainys of Lithuania.

"We ended up in draw but white could not have done anything to win," said Arca.

Yamson bested Kaito Meysman of Belarus in of 29 moves Pirc Defense.

"I'm happy with my performance tonight," said General Trias City bet Yamson, whose stint here is being supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Mayor Luis "Jon Jon" Ferrer IV, Vice Mayor Jonas Glyn Porto Labuguen, OIC City Sports Jon Jon Comandante and Vice Governor Athena Bryana Delgado Tolentino.

However, FIDE Master Mark Jay Bacojo and Jirah Floravie Cutiyog failed to sustain their winning ways.

Bacojo was beaten by FIDE Master Simon Lamaze of France in 43 moves of Slav Defense while Cutiyog yielded to Woman Candidate Master Bozhena Piddubna of Ukraine in 46 moves of King's Indian Defense.

Bacojo was stuck at 2.0 points in the Boys under-18 section while Cutiyog remained at 2.0 points in the Girls under-14 section, the same output of Woman National Master Bonjoure Fille Suyamin, who brought down Candidate Master Wiktoria Smietanska of Poland in 60 moves Slav defense.

Anica Shey Dimatangihan defeated Lea Glanc of Switzerland to score 1.5 points in the Girls under-14 section while Maureinn Lepaopao suffered her third consecutive loses to Linnea Reinfjord Lindholm of Norway.

In other third round matches saw, Woman National Master Kaye Lalaine Regidor trounced Mila Radenkovic of Serbia in the Girls under-16 section, Woman National Master Franchesca Largo subdued Woman Candidate Master Ewa Barwinska of Poland in the Girls under-18 section, Mark Gabriel Usman smashed Malachi Naskov of North Macedonia in the Boys under-14 section while National Master Oscar Joseph Cantela was beaten by Candidate Master Hamed Wafa of Egypt in the Boys under-14 section.

Regidor and Largo, both tallied 2.0 points in three outings, Usman and Cantela got 1.0 point apiece.

Completing the PH age group chess team who also backed up by NCFP Chairman/President Rep. Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., NCFP CEO GM Jayson Gonzales, POC President and Mayor Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino and PSC Richard Bachmann are Arena Grandmaster Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. (Head of Delegation and Coach) Woman FIDE Master Shania Mae Mendoza (Coach) and AFM Ederwin Estavillo (Coach).-Marlon Bernardino-
