Young, Delfin ready for chess action By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Tue, 18 Jul 2023 MANILA---International Master (IM) Angelo Abundo Young and Blitz National Master (BNM) Joel Delfin will return to chess action when the Birthday Celebration of National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. and Mam Annie Chiqui Rivera Carter FIDE Rapid rated chess tournament gets underway on August, 5 2023, Saturday, 9 am at the 2nd floor Open Kitchen Foodhall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City. Young, places 8th in the 50 plus division of the 2019 World Seniors Chess Championships in Bucharest, Romania while Delfin, dubbed as Blitz National Master in the Tarrash Chess Club in Guadalupe Complex, Makati City. Aside from Young and Delfin, International Master Chito Garma, International Master Cris Ramayrat and International Master Barlo Nadera will also compete. Others vying in the P50,000 total pot prize event, hosted by Open Kitchen in close cooperation with Bayanihan Chess Club, NM Robert Suelo Jr., Dr. Joe Balinas, Atty. Rodolfo Enrique Rivera, Kuya Jessie Villasin, Mam Annie Chiqui Rivera Carter, Mam China Aurelio and Mam Mimi Casas, are Fide Master Adrian Ros Pacis, Fide Master Noel dela Cruz, AGM , Gavin Lloyd Ong, AFM John Peter Allen Cabales, AFM Ronell Jose Co, Jovert Valenzuela, Richard Manzano, Benjie Bercadez, Robert Cacho , John Eric Margarito, Ronald Cura, Cedric Kahlel Abris, Leonilo Batino Jr., Fernan Mendoza, Celito Miras Jr, Del Emerson dela Cruz, Daren dela Cruz, Allen Ives Monzon, Ramil Paredes and Marlon Montoya. 1st 100 players paid participants will receive a food voucher worth P100 each in this 1-day National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament.
