JERUSALEM MAKES WEIGHT FOR COLLAZO FIGHT

WBO minimumweight world champion Melvin Jerusalem had no problem making weight and tipped the scales at 104.6 pounds while Puerto Rican challenger Oscar Collazo came in at the exact 105 pound limit. The fight will take place in Indio, California on Sunday, May 27 as the co-featured attraction of the Alexis Rocha versus Anthony Young fight card.
Surprisingly, Jerusalem came as the heavy underdog and oddsmakers favor the greenhorn Collazo. Jerusalem was also the underdog when he knocked out Masataka Taniguchi in his own turf so this is nothing new for the Filipino champion.
“It motivates me more knowing that I am the champion and yet the underdog in this fight. As much as possible I don’t want to take chances of leaving the outcome of the fight to the judges. It is my first title defense and I will not just give away my belt. I want to be champion for a long time and I will show on Sunday why I am a world champion,” Jerusalem stated.
