Kyoguchi Dominates Biendima, Wants a Title Shot at 112

PhilBoxing.com

Skilled Japanese former 2-division champion Hiroto Kyoguchi 京口紘人 (17-1, 11 KO's), returned to action after losing his world title to Kenshiro Teraji 6 months ago by delivering a winning boxing lesson to unheralded Gensan boxer Roland Jay Biendima (17-14-1, 10 KO's) on Saturday, May 20, at the Sumida City Gym in Tokyo, Japan.

The 29-year-old, who recently married popular Japanese Influencer Mrs. Aki (亜希夫人), is aiming to a 3-division domination, wanting more than anything to secure a world title shot against any of the Flyweight World Champions.

The popular Kyoguchi has already reigned as a champion of the world at 105 and 108 pounds.

Could he make his dream of becoming a 3-division world champion come true?

In defeating Roland Jay Biendima, Hiroto took the initiative from the getgo, landing accurate straight rights over the Mindanao native, completely outboxing him.

In the process, Kyoguchi looked efficient, doing enough to win all the 10 rounds in all score cards.

However, the Japanese star did not look particularly exciting nor devastating.

Still, tallies were 100-90 (three times).

Kudos to the Filipino boxer Biendima for lasting the whole distance against a former 2-division champion as Hiroto Kyoguchi, a world-class boxer of renown quality and skills.

During the post-fight interview, Hiroto Kyoguchi, who was accompanied by his cute wife, said:

"I was able to achieve today's goal of winning.

"But now I'm reflecting on whether I could have done a more interesting boxing. I'm sorry (for not making a more exciting fight)."

Should Kyoguchi promoters, Watanabe Promotions, try to secure a world title shot for him at 112 next... probably against rather-boring Azerbaijan WBA flyweight world Champion Artem Dalakian (22-0, 15 KO’s)?

Or should the talented fighter born in Osaka do more "stay-busy" fights against more unheralded boxers, waiting for the right time?

The four Flyweight world champions are Mexican Julio César Martínez (WBC), Artem Dalakian (WBA), Briton Sunny Edwards (IBF), and Mexican-American Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (WBO). Who would be a better opponent?

Kyoguchi, who was accompanied by his popular young wife, feels that sooner or later he can get to challenge for a 112 world title:

"I want to be a champion of the world again."

IN A SUPPORTING BOUT, KAWAMITSU DECISIONS MANANGQUIL

In the same show, Japanese light flyweight fighter 川満俊輝 Toshiki Kawamitsu (8-1, 4 KO's), born in Miyakojima, 沖縄 Okinawa, in Southern Japan, was successful in outsmarting and out-classing Mindanao warrior Melvin Manangquil (7-9-4, 1 KO) of Salug, Zamboanga del Norte, for a unanimous decision win.

There were no knockdowns during the 8-round, non-title supporting-bout battle, clearly controlled by the 27-year-old Nippon fighter.

At the end, unanimous tallies from the three Japanese judges: were 80-72 (twice), plus 79-73, all in favor of the more-skilled Toshiki Kawamitsu, whose only loss happened two years ago at the hands of tough slugger reigning 105 interim champion Ginjiro Shigeoka (9-0, 7 KO's).

The show in Tokyo was a promotion of prolific Japanese promoter 古澤将太 Shota Furusawa of Dangan Promotions. 🇯🇵🇵🇭🥊
