GMG Youth Chess Challenge FIDE Rated chess tournament on May 20

MANILA---The Bayanihan Chess Club headed by it's co-founding chairman Dr. Joe Balinas and Engr. Antonio Balinas will hold a GMG Youth Chess Challenge FIDE Rated chess tournament on May 20 (Saturday) at the 2nd Floor Open Kitchen Foodhall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City.
The 7-round Swiss system competition, 10 minutes plus 5 seconds increment time control format will commence at 9 a.m. but a simple opening ceremony will be done to be graced by China Aurelio and Mimi Casas of Open Kitchen.
Players ages 15 years old and below are eligible to join.
The 1-day event is sponsored by Thailand based National Master Coach Gerald Ferriol, sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, rated by the World Chess Federation in cooperation with Richard Poblete-Ramos of Eurobake and Hongkong national chess player Sunny Lo.
The champion will pocket P5,000, while the second to fifth placers will take take home P3,000, P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000, respectively. The sixth to 10th will receive P500 each.
The organizers will also be giving away cash prizes P500 each to top 14 years old and below, top 12 years old and below, top 10 years old and below, top 8 years old and below as well top youngest participant, lucky 100 and luck 200 place.
