Ex-OPBF champ Heno ready to win again
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Sat, 04 Feb 2023

FORMER Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) light flyweight champion Edward “El Heneral Fighting” Heno of Paranaque City is ready to win again the OPBF against undefeated Kevin Jake “KJ” Cataraja of Cebu City on February 11 in General Santos City.
Heno, who won the vacant OPBF light flyweight title in Japan last 2017, said that he has been training properly and prepared for it.
“I want to win the OPBF belt because my boxing will be fine and it's a big deal for me to win here,” said Heno.
The 30-year-old Heno (15-1-6, 5KOs) successfully defended the title three times.
The last time was against Koji Itagaki of Japan by a unanimous decision last February 11, 2019 at the NTT Cred Hall in Hiroshima.
Heno then suffered his first and only loss when he challenged WBO World light flyweight champion Elwin Soto by a unanimous decision last October 24, 2019 in Indio, CA.
Heno decided to have a two-year break. But Heno came back after new manager Aljoe Jaro convinced him to continue his career.
Heno came back with a unanimous decision victory over Renoel Pael of Leyte to win the Boxing Worldwide Organization (BWO) Asia bantamweight title last August 5, 2022 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
In his second comeback fight, Heno only settled a draw with Brian Lobetania of Bukidnon last December 12 in La Trinidad.
“I'm not afraid, I can fight anyone as long as I'm OK,” said Heno.
Heno will be in Gensan together with Jaro and coach Glenn Mondol on February 9.
The fight is promoted by the Sanman Boxing Promotion composed of JC Manangquil, John Ray Manangquil and Dexter Tan.
