WNM Racasa rules PAPRISA chess meet By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 07 Dec 2022 MANILA---Woman National Master Antonella Berthe Murillo Racasa underscored her billing as the country’s young promising chess player by winning the High School Girls Division of the Pasig Alliance of Private School Administrators (PAPRISA) chess championship at the Niño Jesus House of Studies in Pasig City on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Racasa, looking supremely confident in this biggest gathering of the young woodpushers, posted perfect seven points to capture the title in the seven-round tournament, applying 20 minutes plus 10 seconds increment time control format. The 15-year-old Racasa, a student of Victory Christian International School, won over Charlene Alessandra Bacunawa, Aubrey Gayle De Leon, Stephanie Engles, Eloisa Jade Alcantara, Nimfa Geraldine Cacho, Eunice Busaco and Lyanne Belle Reyes. Accompanied by his father/coach Roberto Manggaran Racasa who is also an International Memory Sports champion, fondly called Tonelle in the chess world will see action at the Batang Pinoy to be held on Dec. 17 to 22 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Tonelle is also scheduled to compete in the GMG CHESS Open Rapid Chess Tournament on December 31 and the Sir Herky Del Mundo Memorial Open Rapid Chess Tournament on January 3, 2023, both will be held at the second floor Open Kitchen Foodhall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City. Tonelle along his father Roberto, 13-time Philippine Open Champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Madrigal Antonio Jr. and National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. are scheduled to compete in the 2023 Bob Wade Masters and Challengers slated from January 13 to 21 at the Howick Community Church Complex in Auckland New Zealand.-Marlon Bernardino- Click here to view a list of other articles written by Marlon Bernardino.  |
