By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Thu, 01 Dec 2022

PHILIPPINE welterweight champion Adam Diu “Big Daddy” Abdulhamid of General Santos City will make his first title defense against Joe “Jaw Breaker” Noynay of Cebu on December 10 in Mandaluyong City College in Mandaluyong City.
“I will strive to conquer,” said Abdulhamid, who is currently sparring with Jhunrick “Iron Fist” Carcedo (8-1, 8KOs) and Rimar “Terminator” Metuda (16-6-1, 10KOs).
Abdulhamid took the title by an 8th round technical knockout against Jason Egera of Negros Oriental last October 29, 2021 at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City.
The 28-year-old Abdulhamid, however, has already suffered two defeats this year both outside the country.
He went to Moscow and bowed to Vitaly Petrvakow in the 6th round last March 19 at USC Soviet Wings.
Abdulhamid then lost by a TKO in the 5th round to Ryota Toyoshina in Japan last August 6 for the WBO Asia Pacific welterweight title.
The 5-foot-8 Abdulhamid, who has 17 wins, 11 loses with nine knockouts, will leave for Manila on December 8 together with Dexter Tan and John Ray Manangquil of Sanman.
Noynay, on the other hand, has 19 wins, three loses, two draws with eight knockouts.
The 27-year-old Noynay failed to defend his WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title after missing his weight and lost by a 2nd round knockout to Liam Wilson last March 3, 2022 in Australia.
