Labog gains tie for 2nd place after defeating Kyrgyz FM in 7th round By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Thu, 24 Nov 2022 TAGAYTAY CITY---National Master Eric Labog Jr. of the Philippines outclassed Fide Master Eldiar Orozbaev of Kyrgyzstan in the seventh round to create a three-way tie for second place Wednesday in the Asian Juniors and Girls Chess Championships at the Knights Templar hotel in Tagaytay City. With the win, the 19-year-old Labog, a freshman student at Immaculada Concepcion College, raised his total 5.0 points, the same output of International Master Sugar Gan-Erdene of Mongolia and Fide Master Arman Hakemi of Iran. Earlier, Labog split the point with countryman International Master Daniel Quizon in the sixth round. International Master Harshavardhan G B of India beat compatriot Chatterjee Utsab to grab the solo lead with 5.5 points. Harshavardhan G B will meet Labog in the eight round while Gan-Erdene will face Hakemi. International Master Michael Concio Jr. and National Master Christian Mark Daluz toppled their respective rivals to share 5th to 9th places with Utsab, top seed IM Saha Neelash of India and FM Daniyal Sapenov of Kazakhstan who totes 4.5 points each. In the Girls Division, Woman International Master Ngoc Thuy Duong Bach of Vietnam and Woman International Master Rakshitta Ravi of India share the lead with 5.5 points after Wednesday's hostilities. WIM Back trounced top pick WIM Assel Serikbay of Kazakhstan while WIM Ravi toppled Woman Fide Master Mitra Asgharzadeh of Iran. Thirty two boys from eleven countries are competing the junior division while 20 players are participating in the 9-round Swiss system tournament among the girls.
