Labog rules GMG Chess Tour blitz chess championship

MANILA---National Master Eric Labog Jr. ruled via tiebreak the Under-20 division of GMG Chess Tour online chess tournament last Friday, September 30, 2022 at Lichess platform.

Labog, tied for first-second places with Jerome Angelo Aragones 8.5 points apiece in the 3 minutes time control format organized by Tournament Director and National Master Gerald Ferriol.

With the highest tiebreak points, Labog took the title plus the top prize of P1,500 while Aragones finished second for P1,000.

Eric Labog Jr. scored victories over Sumer Oncita in the first round, Allan Gabriel Hilario in the second round, Webster Lagera in the fourth, Jan Labog in the fifth round, Francheska Joiz Patricio in the seventh round, Helmich Marilag in the eight round and Martin Llorera in the ninth and penultimate round.

He split the point with Jerome Angelo Aragones in the third round and Nephira Marilag in the tenth and final round

His lone setbacks at the hands of Ben Ari Yannay in the sixth round.

Meanwhile, 8 years old Alisa Xu of Lanna International School who won the 25 minutes time control format of GMG Chess September 2022 Tournament.-Marlon Bernardino-
