BATAWANG, MAYOL IN BIG MAY 3 EVENT IN CEBU
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sat, 19 Apr 2008

A slambang card headlined by two veteran fighters shapes up as SGG Sports Promotions presents Bert Batawang and Rodel Mayol against separate opponents on May 3 at the New Cebu Coliseum.
Promoter Sammy Gello-ani, in an interview, revealed for the first time that Batawang will fight a soon-to-be-announced opponent for the vacant WBO Oriental light-flyweight title, while Mayol sees action in a non-title ten-rounder.
This will be Mayol's first fight in front of local fans after several months of stint in the United States, which netted him two knockout losses at the hands of Mexicans Ulises Solis and Adrian Hernandez.
The southpaw Batawang is coming off a sensational seventh-round knockout over Heri Amol at the Araneta Coliseum recently.
Gello-ani said that he will put on some explosive fights on the undercard for the May 3 event.
Meanwhile, Gello-ani, along with Batawang and Mayol, are slated to be the studio guests for tomorrow's "Pinoy Boxing," a weekly boxing program over DYHP-RMN from 6:30PM to 7:30PM. The trio will discuss the upcoming May 3 event.
Superstar Manny Pacquiao and business associate Rex 'Wakee' Salud have also been invited as guests for the program.
