Junior bantamweight prospect Jade Bornea (16-0 KO10) has always been an underrated boxer ever since his amateur days. Not many boxing fans are aware that Bornea has beaten current IBF/WBA junior featherweight titlist Murodjon Akhmadaliev who is set to face Pinoy top gun Marlon Tapales. Jade has also defeated Japanese multi-division champion Kosei Tanaka. But tomorrow, Bornea has the chance to show the boxing world what he is made of. He is set to fight Mohammed Obaddi in Mexico in an elimination war for the IBF Super Flyweight title held by Jerwin Ancajas.
Bornea who is a mainstay of the famed Sanman Boxing Stable is not eager to fight fellow Filipino in Ancajas and prays that the latter goes up in weight soon. However when boxing leaves no choice for him, then he will face whoever is placed in front of him. Right now his eyes are fixed on Obaddi which he needs to beat decisively in order to ensure bigger fights in the future.
“I have worked so hard in the gym since my amateur career. This is my chance of a lifetime. I can’t afford to let it slip away. I will represent my country in Mexico and will come home with the win,” Bornea stated.
