Canelo Alvarez Overcomes Caleb Plant And Unifies Titles
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Nov 2021

MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas:- Canelo Alvarez (57-2-1, 39 KO) fighting with the same rage as when he broke the orbital bone and beat Billy Joe Saunders last May at Arlington, Texas proved true to his words and beat Caleb Plant (21-1-0, 12KO) to unify the super middleweight titles. Alvarez thus now holds the WBC, WBO, WBA (Super), Ring (Super) and the IBF super middleweight titles.
Apparently, Alvarez’ anger had something to do with the very difficult negotiations that the promoters need to overcome to make the fight. That rage hit its peak at a press conference face to face announcing the fight when Alvarez shoved Plant triggering a response from Plant that almost led to a brawl.
"You know what happens when they mess with me,” Alvarez said. “I hope he has a good chin. I’m sticking with my prediction of a knockout. The first couple of rounds will be difficult, but as the fight progresses, I am going to be able to get him out of there”.
Tonight at this famed arena, Alvarez kept true to his word. He stopped Caleb Plant at round 11 and joins the exclusive league of great Mexican fighters. He created history by being the first Mexican fighter to unify all the four belts in the super middleweight division.
