DAVAO CITY – New Philippine flyweight champion Bienvenido “Sniper Ben Fairtex” Ligas of Caloocan City will face Miel “Silent Assassin” Fajardo of San Fracisco, Agusan del Sur on July 3 at the Urdaneta Cultural Sports Complex in Urdaneta City.
The 23-year-old Ligas (13W-1L-1D, 9KOs) of the Elorde Las Piñas and VSP Boxing, recently beat Alphoe ”The Bull” Dagayloan by unanimous decision to win the vacant Philippine flyweight title last Feb. 13, 2021 at Paniqui.
Ligas, however, is only facing Fajardo in a non-title fight.
“Magandang laban po ito kaya pinag handaan po namin ito ng team namin, non-title po (This is a good match so we prepared it with our team, non- title),” said Ligas.
Ligas is already at 112 lbs.
“Ready na po. Pasok na po ako sa timbang ko (I’m now ready. I'm already at my weight)”, said Ligas.
Ligas has made sparring with his stablemates before they left for Urdaneta.
“Game plan po namin ng team namin pinag handaan naman po naming lahat (We all prepared a game plan for our team),” said Ligas.
Earlier, Ligas captured the vacant Luzon Professional Boxing Association super flyweight title by knocking Joan Imperial in the 3rd round last Feb. 7, 2020 in Santo Domingo.
Ligas also won the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation super flyweight title by a UD over JC Franciso at the Elorde Southbox in Las Pinas.
