Golden State Warriors Win 3rd Game in a Row Avenging Loss to Charlotte Hornets

PhilBoxing.com

February 26th, 2021 San Francisco, CA-- REVENGE was the theme for this Friday night’s home game against the Charlotte Hornets.

The last time the two teams met, the Warrior’s star player stepped off the floor just before the game started due to illness. The Warriors were trying to win the second game of a back-to-back after a heart-breaking loss to the Orlando Magic without Steph Curry.

It seemed improbable, even against the mediocre Charlotte Hornets, but the Warriors played with determination and heart without their star.

By the fourth quarter, the Warriors racked up a double digit lead, only to see it wither away little by little. With less than 10 seconds left, the collapse was complete.

Up by 2 points, Draymond Green drew 2 technical fouls off a scramble for a jump ball, which allowed Terry Rozier III to tie the game at the line and finish with a winning 3 point buzzer-beater from the corner. It was a huge punch in the mouth for the Warriors.

The bitter taste of that loss is still lingering for the Warriors, and tonight they had a chance to avenge that loss with a full squad and add to their winning streak.

Tonight, Draymond Green was a man on a mission...a mission to redeem himself from admittedly causing the loss to the Hornets last Saturday.

Even the best of the best are not immune to mistakes. The difference is they won’t make the same mistake twice.

Tonight was evident of that.

Draymond Green showed everyone the brilliant leader that he is for the Warriors. He scored a triple double with a career best 19 assists, 12 rebounds and 11 points to lead the Warriors to a perfect revenge game at home against the Charlotte Hornets 130-121.

Charlotte tried their best to keep the Warriors at bay while playing the Warrior’s second squad, but could not keep up with the fast-paced offense of the Warrior starters whenever they were on the floor.

The Warriors ended the first half with a 15 point lead. The Charlotte Hornets then made some adjustments in the third quarter to bring the lead down to single digits.

But as soon as the Hornets got within reach of the Warrior lead, the Warriors came on strong and scored 37 points to finish the third and enter the fourth quarter over 100 points. The Warriors would never look back. v

Steph Curry had a solid game with 29 points and 9 assists, and Kelly Oubre Jr. had a great scoring night shooting 11-15 for 27 points.

Having both Kevon Looney and James Wiseman proved to be a huge factor in tonight’s game. Having the big presence in the paint on both ends of the floor made it very difficult for Charlotte to contend against the Warriors.

The Warrior’s defense was spectacular with 10 steals between 8 players. The Warrior’s 3 game winning streak is no doubtedly due to the much improved Warrior defense.

With their 3rd win in a row, the Warariors head to Los Angeles to face the Lakers who tonight also won their home game against the Portland Trailblazers 102-93.

It should be a great game between two young talented teams in the West.
