Estacio wins Buto chess tournament

Journeyman Noel Jay "Super B" Estacio won the 11th Al-Basher "Basty" Buto Birthday Celebration blitz chess tournament by beating Ruth De Asas in the final round at the Goldland Chess Club, Village East, Cainta, Rizal on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
The San Dionisio, Iloilo native Estacio ended up with 6.5 points in seven outings, good enough for the chess title in the event backed up by American Chess Coach Dave Fenton and Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based Jimmy Reyes, hosted by Mr. Bong Buto.
"I'm so happy to have been part of such an incredible event," said Estacio, reserve player of City of General Trias, Cavite Spartans.
Arena Grandmaster Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. took the second spot with 6 points.
In third place was PH chess genius Al Basher "Basty" Buto who had 5 points.
Rohanisah Buto and Abdul Buto finished with 4.0 points each to share fourth to fifth places.
Rounding up to the top 12 winners are Alysah Buto (6th), Aaron De Asas (7th), Vermont Casas (8th), Mickaylah Buto (9th), Khalid Macaslang (10th), Herson Guanco (11th) and Ruth De Asas (12th).-Marlon Bernardino-
