PLANIA DROPS GREER TWICE, WINS BY MAJORITY DECISION By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 17 Jun 2020  Magic Mike Plania got his signature win by defeating WBO No. 1 rated bantamweight Joshua Greer Jnr sending the American twice to the canvas before getting the victory by majority decision after 10 rounds on Top Rank's Boxing is Bank main event in Las Vegas Tuesday night (Wednesday in Manila) televised on ESPN. Plania, the heavy underdog, scored a quick knockdown early in the first round courtesy of a looping left that landed squarely at Greer's jaw. The Chicago native however quickly stood up and didn't appear to be hurt.  It was Plania who brought the fight to Greer in the succeeding rounds as the American fought from the outside. Just before the bell sounded in the sixth round, Plania again connected with a left that sent Greer to the canvas for the second time.  By the eight round, sensing that he needed a knockout to win, Greer shifted to fight inside and as Plania appeared to tire out, the American closed the gap in the scorecard. Judges scores: Tim Cheatham 96-92, Patricia Morse Jarman 97-91 and Dave Moretti 94-94 in favor of Plania. PhilBoxing had it 96-92 for Plania. Plania, from General Santos City, improves his record to 24-1, 12KOs while Greer drops to 22-2-1, 12KOs.  Undercard results:  Undefeated welterweight Bobirzhan Mominov (11-0-0, 8KOs) of Aksukent, Jazahstan prevailed by unanimous decision over Cameron Krael (17-16-3, 4KOs) of Las Vegas. Scores: Eric Cheek 56-57, Richard Ocasio 55-58 and Steve Weisfeld 55-58.  Nikoloz Sekhniashvili (6-0-0, 4KOs) of Gori, Georgia prevailed by unanimous decision over Isiah Jones (8-2-0, 3KOs) of Detroit, Michigan in their 6-round scheduled middleweight contest. Scores: Eric Cheek 54-60, Patricia Morse Jarman 54-60 and Richard Ocasio 55-59.  Hector Perez (7-2-0, 3KOs) of Tamarac, Florida won by unanimous decision over Juan Torres (5-3-1, 2KOs) of Cypress, Texas in their 6-round heavyweight contest.
