NBA -- Frustrated Lillard calls out refs
By Ryan Gallardo PhilBoxing.com Sat, 25 Jan 2020

PORTLAND - With a disappointing 19-27 record, the Portland Trail Blazers have plowed through a lot of losses this season. But star point guard Damian Lillard is taking exception on this one.
The incident happened during Portland's 133-125 defeat at the hands of the visiting Dallas Mavericks yesterday at the Moda Center. Down 13 with four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the perennial All-Star thought he got "smacked in the head."
it has no doubt been a disappointing season for the Portland Trail Blazers. And that frustration has been shown by Dame Lillard.
But no whistle was blown and the referees reasoned that Lillard had "leaned on" Dallas' defenders. And that reasoning drew Dame's ire.
"That's an insult, man," said Lillard, whose 47 points went for naught. He shot 16 of 28 from the field and 8-of-15 from 3-point range in a superb performance that followed his 61-point effort during Portland's 129-124 victory over the Golden State Warriors last January 20.
No one among the Mavs had especially explosive night but Luka Doncic finished with 27 points and nine assists while Kristaps Porzingis added 20 points and five rebounds. Six different Mavs players each had at least three triples as Dallas buried Portland with 22 treys.
Outside of Lillard's misgivings, it was a disappointing evening for Portland which lost despite shooting 50.5 percent from the field (46-of-91) and 53.8 percent from 3-point range (21 of 39).
With this latest defeat the Blazers are now in 10th place in the Western Conference and are 2.5 games behind the 20-23 San Antonio Spurs for the eight and last playoffs berth.
