NBA Daily: Ingram’s 49 Trumps Mitchell’s 46, as Pelicans Outlast Jazz 138-132 in Overtime

PhilBoxing.com

Boracay Island, Philippines – The New Orleans Pelicans snapped Utah’s 10-game winning streak, as they eked out a 138-132 overtime victory behind Brandon Ingram’s career-high 49 points on Thursday night (Friday morning, Philippine time) at the Smothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Utah was up by 5 points at the 2:28 mark of the extension period, when the Pelicans orchestrated an 11-0 run to steal the victory from the Jazz.

Ingram shot 15-for-25 from the field, including 3-for-8 from deep and 16-for-20 from the charity stripe. He also had 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 block.

Former Jazz player Derrick Favors stuffed the stats sheet with 21 markers on a 10-for-12 field goal shooting, to go with 11 boards, 3 dimes, 2 steals, and 3 blocks to torment his former team.

Lonzo Ball had an atrocious shooting night, hitting only 2 of his 12 field goal attempts, but compensated it with superb playmaking, as he dished out 13 assists for the Pelicans, who improved to 16 wins and 26 losses for 12th spot in the Western Conference team standings.

Donovan Mitchell scored 46 points, including 7 triples for Utah. Bojan Bogdanovic added 26, while Rudy Gobert had another double-double of 17 points and 14 boards, to go with 4 dimes and 3 blocked shots.

Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson finished with 15 points off the bench for the Jazz, who dropped to 4th place in the Western Conference team standings with a 28-13 win-loss card.

The Jazz will return home to host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Pelicans stay home to host the LA Clippers on the same night.
