DAVAO CITY -- The manager of boxer Jeson Umbal of Camiguin also lost money from controversial match maker Roland Jerez of Cavite.
"This guy took money for visa processing and disappeared," said Singaporean Vikram Swapragasam of Vladimir Boxing.
"He promised Jeson Umbal a fight in Mexico and took money to process visa and never got it done," added Swapragasam.
The money was supposed to be used for the visa processing. Umbal was supposed to have a scheduled fight in Mexico in 2017.
The 25-year old Umbal (17W-6L-0D, 11KO) is scheduled to fight Bayu Anres of Indonesia on Sept. 7 at The Ring Boxing Community in Singapore.
Umbal won by a unanimous decision over Tommy Seran of Indonesian last April 12 in Singapore.
He earlier gota majority decision to Muhamad Ridhawan of Singapore and lost the International Boxing Organization Inter-Continental featherweight title last April 20, 2018 at Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Nanthawat Maolichat (6W-0L, 6KO) of Thailand will face Ongen Saknosiwi (6W-0L, 6KO) of Indonesia for the vacant World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title.
The promoters are Ruchdi Hajjar of Red Glove Management Pte. Ltd, Dzulfadly Jaffar of Golden Gloves Asia Promotion and Raja Sapta Ol of Mahkota Promotions. (Lito delos Reyes)
