Boxrec rated Pacquiao No. 3 welterweight boxer in the world, behind (1) Terence Crawford and (2) Errol Spence Jr. while Thurman is at No. 7 behind (4) Shawn Porter, (5) Danny Garcia, and (6) Yordenis Ugas. The Ring rated Pacquiao No. 5 while Thurman is No. 3 in the welterweight division behind (1) Spence, (2) Crawford, and (4) Porter. The Transnational Boxing Ranking Board ranks Pacquiao at No. 5 while Thurman is No. 4 behind (1) Spence, (2) Crawford and (3) Porter in the welterweight division. Both Pacquiao and Thurman are enrolled in the VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) Clean Boxing Program (CBP). As what the Nevada State Athletic Commission officially announced, the contract purse of Pacquiao is $10 million, but he is guaranteed at least double the amount. Thurman's purse is $2.5 million but he is guaranteed to also receive additional millions. Pacquiao has sold approximately 19.6 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.2 billion in revenue from his 24 PPV bouts. This is Thurman's first PPV fight.
